GERMAN BOND YIELDS DECLINE TO NEW LOWS; ITALY AUCTIONS BONDS

Germany bond yields declined to its lowest amid speculation that the there could be heavy purchases of government debt securities to soften the crisis. Yields declined to 5 basis points to -0.083 percent after lows of -0.088 percent in trade today.

Italy is to auction bonds EUR 5.5 b (USD 6.76 b) due 2017and 2022 today.

In Italy, the 10 year notes yielded at 5.96 percent, vs 5.82 percent in the previous auction. However, yields on the lower maturity bond, i.e bond due 2017 came in at 5.29 percent vs 5.84 percent previously.

German debt has provided returns of 3.3 percent on a YTD basis. France is to auction EUR 7.3 b of t-bills today. (Bloomberg, Trading Economics)
